App Studio Assets

The App Studio Assets window enables you to upload image and .swf files into the App Studio and edit these images via Pixlr. You can then use these files as either integral image and .swf components in your widget, or as background images of other components in your widget.

Upload images and .swf files

  1. In the App Studio, select Windows > App Studio Assets.
  2. Click the Add button.

  3. To upload a file from your computer, click Browse. (Tip: SHIFT-click in your file browser to upload multiple files.) To add a file from a URL, paste it in the text field and click Add.
  4. The file(s) will be automatically uploaded and will appear in your App Studio Assets window.

Use an image or .swf file from your App Studio Assets in a widget

  1. Open the App Studio Assets window by clicking Windows > App Studio Assets.
  2. Drag the file you'd like to use from the App Studio Assets window onto the stage

To use an image or .swf file as a background image for a component

  1. Open the App Studio Assets window by clicking Windows > App Studio Assets.
  2. Select the component whose background image you'd like to change.
  3. Drag an image or .swf file from the App Studio Assets window and drop it onto the Background Image URL field in your component's properties panel.

  4. Oila! The image file now serves as a background image for the selected component:

To edit an image file in Pixlr

  1. Open the App Studio Assets window by clicking Windows > App Studio Assets.
  2. Select the image file that you'd like to edit, and click the Edit button.

  3. A new browser tab will open with your image loaded into Pixlr. Edit your image in this window until you're satisfied with it, then click File > Save.

  4. A Save dialogue box will come up. Make sure to select the "Save to the referrer" to save the edited file back to KickApps. Please note: saving this file back to KickApps will overwrite your original file. If you'd like to add the edited image to KickApps as a separate image, select "Save it to my computer", and upload this new image into the App Studio Assets window.

  5. Return to the browser tab or window in which you have the App Studio opened. Click the Refresh button in the App Studio Assets window to update it with the edited image.
