Widgets & Video Players
The KickApps App Studio is a WYSIWYG interface that lets you build completely customized widgets and video players with point-and-click ease. Using simple components like video screens, audio players, RSS renderers, text fields, and buttons, you can assemble, style, and program dynamic, data-driven Flash widgets.
Widgets can be syndicated to Facebook, MySpace, and any other site that accepts HTML embeds. Tracking is available via Google Analytics and Omniture. You can monetize your video players with an assortment of ad components, including DoubleClick, Atlas, 24/7 OAS, adap.tv, ScanScout, and Google.
RSS Reference
The KickApps RSS Feed API allows you to search all of your community's data (members, media, message board posts, groups, etc.), and sort and filter the results using a variety of parameters. For example you could create a list of the 50 most popular videos that have been uploaded to your community and tagged with "nature", or the 10 female community members with the most comments on their profile.
You can also generate "Activity Feeds," which produce a list of recent activity for the entire community, a specific group within the community, a specific member within the community, or a specific member's friends within the community.
Code Snippets
Our Code Snippets section contains a variety of JavaScript, CSS and HTML code snippets that you can use on your KickApps hosted community to further customize the user experience.
REST API Developer Kit
Does your site include more content than videos, photos, audio tracks, and blogs? Want to add logins, comments, and ratings to your editorial content, stories, and other pages that aren't powered by KickApps? Of note is the External Media type available on the platform, allowing you to provide social tools on any content within your website.
The KickApps API Developer Kit enables your development team to access your community data on a self-service basis and display it in applications, feeds, or any other programmable format. With it, you can also add data into your community to recreate and customize features such as media comments, ratings, and more.
Download our REST API Developer Kit white paper to learn more. You can also read the whitepaper online.
SSO Plug-in Reference
Single Sign-On enables you to create a seamless login experience between your KickApps-powered community and your website’s existing member database. If you’re running a Drupal, Joomla!, or WordPress-powered website, we’ve developed SSO plug-ins and modules. With SSO, when your members login to your website, they'll be automatically signed into your KickApps community. If you're adding KickApps to a site that already has members, these members will be automatically registered into your KickApps community when they sign in to your main site.
