The TwickApps Widget In Action

We've previously mentioned the TwickApps widget in our gallery, but decided it deserved its own mention here in greater detail. There was a lot of interest in how this widget was put together, as it demonstrated a cool approach of using a feed from somewhere else in a KickApps widget. Read more for an example of JSON widget code, a demo of what the widget looks like, and instructions on how to use it for your own purposes.


First we should look at the results, here is the TwickApps widget in action:

In a nutshell, this widget grabs the search results from Twitter for a keyword - in this case the string "kickapps", and exposes it as a list in the widget. Each entry also is linked to that tweet, and also links are there to the author of that tweet. You could just as easily change the search to find a keyword relevant to you.

Import this widget!

You can import this widget into your App Studio by copying and pasting its URL, http://serve.a-widget.com/service/getWidget.kickAction?as=3009&widgetId=7881, into the Import Widget window available in the App Studio under Menu > Import.
